A Teacher set up the water in the trough and put several plastic balls inside it which had been given to us during the morning – the children chose a different coloured ball each, and I asked them to pick up as many as they could manage to hold onto – we then counted together who had the most after each round –  they then started again with a different colour – I also included Te Reo in the counting and colours.  The children then went on to make up their own games with the balls.  By using language like how many what colour next who has the most who has the least, counting colour recognition, rules, noticing if something is the same or different and including te reo in their learning of colours and numbers.
